Ethan and I had been planning a trip to the Rochester and Erie for a few weeks, and the day had finally arrived. Our friend Nick has been working for the railroad now for a couple months, and it would be my first time seeing him work. With a run planned to Argos that day, we knew we our plans were set in stone. We hadnt planned on starting the day very early, but, CN was running a OCS out of Homewood and east into Canada that morning. So, we decided to begin our day with that. Leaving Markham at 0600 EST, we ended up having to start out day very early. So, thats what we did. We jumped onto US 31 and began to make our way north to South Bend, where we planned on catching the train at CP Flower south of town. When we made it into Argos, the train had yet to pass the Griffith Camera, and there were sparks of life coming from the Chicago District on the scanner. So, we decided to stop and head over to the yard. A green signal greeted us for westbound NS 29C at Juniper, and minutes later, the train passed us with three NS GEs at track speed. |
